YARD MANAGEMENT SUITE – TRANSLOAD

ProAct’s Yard Management Suite is unique in the software solution market in that it is probably the only solution that offers the planning and management of multiple yard and cargo types within a single seamless solution.

The suite includes three main components:

Yard management for Finished Vehicles
Yard management for Transload
Yard management for Cross Dock

These three components are all multi-modal and can exist as standalone solutions or work seamlessly together within a single yard or network of yards. A graphical user interface provides a visual view of each yard allowing the user to zoom in or out all the way down to a single pallet or SKU. Furthermore, the suite can deal with any type of cargo ranging from containerised freight to bulk aggregates and liquids to finished vehicles, all within a single yard.

The multi-modal capabilities mean that the solution can also manage a facility that may inbound or outbound cargo via road, an ocean or barge dock and a railhead, all within a single facility. Each component is designed to handle the specific nuances and complexities of various cargo types, be it finished vehicles, containerised freight or bulk products that may need to be stored in silos or tanks. At all times a complete inventory status and availability picture is visible across all facilities.

The wide ranging scope of the ProAct Yard Management Suite does not come at the expense of depth of functionality. Each component of the suite sets its own standard for yard management capabilities.

Each component within the suite has come about from ProAct’s immersion in each specific market.

Yard management for finished vehicle logistics is a product of our long standing role within the finished vehicle logistics market.

Yard management for Transload has come out of our involvement in the typically rail based, bulk transload market.

Yard management for cross dock emerged as a result of the realisation that having to deploy WMS to obtain cross dock management functionality often results in an inefficient and costly solution that carries the ‘baggage’ of the WMS with it.

The ability to deal with such diverse requirements from within a single solution is down to the underlying technology and the high levels of end user configurability it provides. Inventory visibility down to SKU level is also a common characteristic of all the components. A SKU on a pallet in a container on a railcar might be a typical level of inventory visibility. Whether inventory is sat on a dock, inside a trailer or container in the yard or in any other equipment, be it onsite or in-transit, it is all directly visible to the end user. Shipment order management and manifest load building capabilities also mean that the capabilities of the yard management suite go beyond the physical yard itself.
